Roads Superintendent set to Retire

On December 13, 2022, Colfax County Manager. Monte Gore (Left) presents Roads Superintendent, Robert Thompson (Right) with his Certificate of Retirement along with a gift during the County Commission meeting.

Robert Thompson will be officially retiring on January 1, 2023. Robert has served the Colfax County for 17 years with the Roads Department. Robert’s leadership and knowledge in his field has proven to be an essential asset to the citizens of Colfax County and his staff. Under Robert’s supervision the Roads Department has completed countless projects and maintained our county roadways for the safety and betterment of those that traveled them.

Congratulations to Robert Thompson. Thank you for your leadership & dedication to the Citizens of Colfax County. We wish him the best in his future plans.

Wilkinson Longtime County Employee Retiring

After 46 years of service with the Colfax County Roads Department, longtime employee Eldean Wilkinson of Springer, NM is retiring. Four more than four decades of service, Eldean has made the decision to hang his keys up.

Eldean Wilkinson started working for the county in 1976 running the county graders. When asked what his plans are after retirement, Eldean stated his plans "Are to pretty much do whatever I want" and with that statement he has earned.  Roads Superintendent, Robert Thompson has known Eldean since the 1980 and he has been a great employee for the County, providing his expertise to countless employees within the county. Eldean worked the county roads in the Springer, French Tract and Miami. 

The end of the "Roads" has come for these two dedicated employees, but the Highway ahead is just beginning. Thank you, Robert and Eldean.  Congratulations once again.
