Cimarron

Cimarron is nestled against the Sangre de Cristos mountains on New Mexico Highway 64 west of Raton. The village has a colorful history and an active artist community. Raton Balloon RallyRaton

Raton is located six miles south of the Colorado state line on Interstate 25 and is the largest municipality of Colfax County. Raton is the county seat for Colfax County and has several buildings listed on the Historic Register. The historic Shuler Theater, El Raton movie theater, BNSF depot, and Old Pass Gallery are just a few of the must-see sites in downtown Raton. Maxwell

Maxwell is located between Springer and Raton on I-25. The Maxwell National Wildlife Refuge located a few miles northwest of Maxwell on NM Highway 505 encompasses 3,699 acres of short-grass prairie, playa lakes, woodlots, wetlands, and crop fields. Since 1965 this landscape has been managed for the benefit of wildlife and has provided feeding and resting habitat for migratory birds.

Colfax Co Courthouse in springer_5683Springer

Springer is located south of Raton on I-25, and hosts the Luna Community College Springer satellite campus. Springer hosts the Colfax County Fair during the second week of August each year. Springer is located on the Santa Fe Trail and is home to several historic sites of interest, including the former Colfax County Courthouse, which is now a museum and the Brown Hotel.
